It is a complete marketing plan. They are using early adopters, you and I, to build buzz and demand by us not being able to get the system immediately. They are building DESIRE, even in the most desirable unit of their target market so that they will talk up the system. We are going to be the "sales force" moving forward after the intial launch craze they created with the "limited" release. The secrecy will keep us searching, wanting the hardware through the new year. We will basically have an orgasm when we receive it and they hope this "climax" will be vocalized on the internet boards, etc.
We, you and I, will sell the 3 million units in 90 days. Now, in 30 days, all MS has to do is supply them....they will sell easily.
Faulty equipment, etc, whether it is real or not, is an issue of you usually pay attention to the squeeky wheel. In other words, people who are nothaving problems are not posting everywhere to say, Hey guys, just so you know my Xbox works, they are posting I got MY Xbox, waited ....hours etc, posting about games, hdtv etc.
It is all REALLY a brilliant marketing plan. Yes they are pissing off SOME hardcore gamers, but you know what? They don't care, they know you will buy one anyway. They are using you, to sell more in the long run.
O and do you know why you have all the bundles? Because they need something to make up the loss they are taking on each unit.
Happy Gaming!
