OK, so I spent too many hours getting any kind of connection from my new Media Center Notebook computer to my xbox 360.
Seems like this "extender" that is talked about is a physical piece of hardware.
I don't have the wireless module for the 360. So I just wanted to see my pictures, etc from my notebook. Figured should be able to connect via ethernet cable somehow.
Problem is 360 keeps saying it did not get an IP address from my computer. Tried everything. 360 gives you 2 options at that point:
Network Settings or
Continue.
Finally tried "Continue" and guess what, you can get the 8 digit "Extender" number. So download the "Extender software" from
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/pcsetup/MCE05Lite.htm , install it and input the 8 digit number. Restart computer and xbox, Go to xbox dashboard & choose Media Center. Your now looking at it! I have not been able to access the internet via this notebook setup yet.
