how do i watch movie in wide screen?
My kill bill vol.1 DVD says
"wide screen(2.35:1) - enhanced for 16 x 9 television.
So i guess this means it supports widescreen.
I put dvd in my xbox360 and play it and then it doesn't show me with
widescreen. I still see left and right side of the screen in black meaning
that even though i have 16:9 HDTV, it still shows this movie in 4:3 format.
If I go to TV option of my TV, it has wide zoom, normal, full, and zoom, but these only stratches everything instead of showing extra stuffs that were not visible from 4:3 TV.
i use component cable, 1080i when I play xbox 360 games. that's How I set it up.
Is there something I should change?
Whenever I play games, they are all widescreen.
But if I insert a DVD, it plays it in 4:3 normal view and then if i make it go to xbox dashboard, it changes back to widescreen.
hm...i am curious.

My xbox360 blew up 6 times, I won't give it 7th chance. I will just wait for next xbox generation and use bakcward compatibility to play halo 3 and those xbox360 games. I guess I am just gonna buy ps3 or wii this time.

hmmm... Your display mode on the 360 is probably set on 720p or 1080i. Maybe set your display mode on your xbox360 to 480i or 480p. I think its because your kill bill DVD isn't high def. Try it and see if it works.

When you're playing the movie, bring up the menu and there is a option to change the display.

okay, during the movie, push any face button(a,b,x,y) and go to advanced. There should be an aspect thing, and that always works for me. Surprisingly, I don't lose to much clarity after stretching it

2.35:1 is not 16:9, so you should actually be seeing black bars at the top/bottom of the screen. Set the TV to "normal" and see if you get the top/bottom ones, if you do, then its right. 16:9 is actually 1.78:1.

davep....but still, the 360 can stretch the picture, without much loss, to fill up the entire screen

Not all DVDs are widescreen (16:9), in fact, most are standard (4:3) ratio and that's most likely the reason your DVDs are not playing in widescreen.. unless of course the DVD(s) read "Widescreen" on the cover/disc.

I think you are right.
Not only I have black bars at the left and right(since it's normal), it also has black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
I guess the wide screen it refers means there are black bars at the top and bottom instead of showing extra spaces.
