I need help connecting iPod

When I connect my iPod mini to my 360 to play tunes the do not disconnect message for when you are updating it with songs comes up on the screen and never goes off and the songs wont play. I cant see them on the TV screen and all but it wont let me play them.

Can someone please help me ?
