Yup, Transcode 360 is your only solution. I'm pretty sure Transcode supports MKV format. I remember having a few and watching them over the network, but I can't remember if I converted them to WMV first or not...

Hello
I tried it last night, and my 360 still say invalid format for the MKV
Any help ?
If the only solution is to convert the MKV file, are aware of a simple free solution. I tried at least ten and they all are too complicated !!
Thank you !

If you can play the file on your PC, then download the Windows Media Encoder pack. It's free and will convert HD content without any issue.
Download details: Windows Media Encoder 9 Series

Hi, joined up solely to get some much needed help.
OK so I was connecting to Live directly through my router and it was wired, had no problems with that only that the wire was a bit of a hazard and people had tripped over it once or twice so to solve that problem, and get the added benefit of being able to watch my movies etc on my TV I changed to connecting via my pc, still wired.
So right now I have an Ethernet cable from my XBox to my pc, then one from my PC to my router, both the XBox and the PC can get online/Live but I can't get to my videos. Well sometimes I can sometimes I can't, it was fine for a day or so but now it will let me see them but when I go to play one it says it's lost connection.
The fact it can see it from time to time suggests it's not a firewall issue or something similar so I'm lost.
Any help would be appreciated and if you need any more info just ask.
