Evening folks. I've skimmed the thread and didn't see that anyone was having a similar problem.
I'm running XP SP3 and WMP11. I have all my mp3s and pictures on an external usb2.0 HDD and have them all added to the WMP11 library. I connected to my xbox using the steps found in the guide. I tested the media connections and passed all tests. The problem I am having is I am only seeing the music on my internal HDD listed in the xbox music library. All the songs on my external drive are missing from the xbox lib.
Any known issues streaming from a library on external HDD?
Any solutions?
Thanks in advance.

No known issues that I'm aware of. I've done it myself at one point.
How have you added the media to the library? Did you drag and drop or did you add the folders to the library and let WMP scan them? I do the directory scanning and all works fine.
Go into your media sharing properties in Media player and check out the permissions of each folder. It might be that you've given your 360 access to stream from the default folders but not the additional ones.

A little restart action took care of the problem. Can't believe I didn't try that already. Thanks for the reply!

Well here goes....
I followed the instructions a few months back on howto connect my 360 to my PC using WMP11 and it worked without any hiccups. Now for months everything has been great untill the past few days.
I watched a movie the other night on my 360 via my PC and when it finished i turned it off and went to sleep. i woke the next day turned everything on and my PC was not detected via the 360.
So i went throu all of my router settings, firewall settings and they were fine. i can still connect to xbox live perfect, so this says to me that my 360 and router are still ok with each other.
so i went to my firewall checked settings and everything was ok there also. I then loaded up WMP11 and the media sharing option it was unselected, ( aha theres the problem ) so i cliecked enable pressed ok but it just didnt do anything. My xbox is not detected my WMP in the media sharing option either.
I have located the DRM folder and deleted that restarted comp and 360 and tried it but with no joy.
The test media connection test stops at the PC selected stage, but all ports are fine as nothing has been changed
I am stuck as to what is wrong as nothing has changed, nothing has been installed/uninstalled.
Anyone able to help me with this problem please?
Thanks
Mick

This is a great set-up. I have had it like this for a while now.

Unfortunately you're pretty much stuffed until you can get back online. It requires you to download the media update again.
