Which one should I get?

Hey guys, I need some advice. I am a casual gamer (Xbox, Gamecube). Play mostly sports games & RPGs such as KOTOR I & II, Fable; 1st person shooters like Halo II, Doom 3 Bond games etc. I may spend 2 - 12 hours/week playing, depending on my schedule.

I haven't played online since the Diablo days & don't intend to in the future. I have a 42" DLP HDTV, DISH DVR, std. DVD player. I watch a lot of movies on DVD, sports, some series etc.

I see that there are several configs of the Xbox360 available and other accessories. Based on my info, which system best suits my needs? a lot of you are hardcore gamers & probably have the cadillac setup. I'm just looking for what's best for me.

Thanks in advance for your help & expertise.

If you're into RPGs, then the Premium is the way to go. MS have given the developers the go ahead to list the hard drive as a necessity for MMORPGs and the like. Of course, the Core doesn't come with the hard drive.

right now elite is a good way to go, i bought my premium 360 8 months ago for 330 with a few games, the elite has a larger hdd, a hdmi cable and can be bought for 330 with 1 game.. (you will have to hunt for a good shop doing this).

really no one should bother with the core system as it doesnt have the hdd.

Are core, premium & elite the only versions? Also, what is the difference & how would it affect my particular gaming style?

core doesnt have a hdd, that means u have to get xbox 360 memory sticks to save your data....cant download as they tend to be huge. also u tend to get a wired controller and no headset

premium is the xbox360 with a wireless controler (much easier to handle), headset for voice comms, a hdd (20gb)to actually save your games, silver xbox live subscription so u can download demos etc, 1 month gold trial so u can play online games.

elite is the same xbox360 but black, wireless controller, wireles headset, silver membership, trial of gold, and a 120gb hdd!!!also has a hdmi cable to get better picture from a hd tv

do not buy the core ever cause then u need to go buying all the extra bits just so you can play.

do you have a hdtv or at least a tft pc monitor?

also note that if you want to play xbox games on the 360 u again need the hdd to download the compatibility files so they will work.

Yes, I have HDTV.

Are all Xbox games able to play on 360?

hey dude..

here is a list of all xbox 1 games that work on the 360: (remember u need the hdd provided by premium or elite to play them)

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/back...ygameslist.htm

ok if you have a hd tv of that size does it have a hdmi port? xbox elite comes with a hdmi port that may give you a slight quality increase but its hardly noticable, xbox 360s can also be connected via vga, scart of comp

there are the odd very good price for the elite and its best to buy that one cause of the huge hdd.

remember that a 360 can do more than play xbox and 360 games.
it has msn messenger, can be used to watch mp4 movies and wmv movies, can be used to listen to your mp3s, or you can play your ipod direct through it.
soon there is talk about having some divx compatibility too (woop)

Core is obviously out of the question as you may have gathered from the above.

The only benefit you will get from the Elite is the 120GB HDD - and thats hardly required just yet. A HDMI connection on a 42" HDTV will not show any noticable improvement either. Id say save the extra money.

For the price you would pay for the Elite you can pick up a premium with several games and accessories. Trust me, I did, and I still made a saving.

Go with the premium, it sthe best value for money.

Does the Xbox 360 play DVD's out of the box & HD-DVD's with an add-on?
