Exclamation Multiple Xbox 360's On Same Network - Nat Issue

Ok, I have searched for days on end and have YET to get any answer from anyone.

I have contacted..

Linksys
Netgear
Microsoft
Xbox Support
Many Forums

My problem? I have 3 Xbox 360's in the house. All on the same network. All can connect to live without any issue. All can play online without any issue. However, only one can connect with NAT that shows OPEN. The other two show STRICT or MODERATE. This is because I can only port forward to one Xbox because you can not forward the same ports to multiple static ip's as that defeats the purpose of port forwarding. All Xbox's have static ip's.

So, what router if any will allow me to have 3 Xbox's on the same network and connect with nat OPEN on all 3 without issue? Is there such a thing? If the Xbox would allow me to change what ports it listens on, that would resolve the issue, however it is not possible. I am at a loss. I have no idea what to do with this. There has also been no answer to any of these similar questions on the net. Only suggestions that I have tried even before searching.

DMZ is also not an option. You can only DMZ 1 IP address. There has to be a solution.

If someone knows of a router - tell me the model. Would love to hear it!

I'd like to hear the answer if someone has it. I took my console to a friend's house for a Halo 3 party, and we had the same problem with NAT not being open for both. Luckily we played campaign the entire time and did not have to connect to other online games.

This is a limitation that should probably be addressed by either a router company or MS, don't you think? Absolutc and I can't be the only ones to run across it.

Yeah, I agree. My issue is also with Halo 3.

MS should offer a fix on the Xbox end, maybe allowing for ports to be changed and/or the router companies need to offer support PERIOD for their products, let alone support for an issue like this.

It's only going to get worse and more common. Lots of households have disposable income and multiple people/kids that have 1, 2 or 3 of the same systems. Not to mention people and their gaming/lan parties.

Yes, any suggestions - please post!

funny thing i just found the solution to this last night....which kind of router do you have...i have a linksys and ill post the solution in a sec

edit:heres the solution

To verify the Wireless Settings of the router, please follow to the steps below:

1. Hardwire any PC to the router and access the router’s setup page.

2. To access the setup page, verify the IP address of the router and type it on the address bar of the Internet Explorer.

3. Please click on Start and then choose Run, type CMD then press go. On the black screen, type "ipconfig" then press Enter. The Default Gateway is the IP address of the router.

4. Launch your Internet Explorer 5 or later version or Netscape Navigator 4 or later version.

5. On the Address bar, please type the IP address of the router or the default IP address which is 192.168.1.1, then hit Enter/Return.

6. A login screen will appear. Please type “admin” for the password and leave the username blank or empty then hit “OK”.

Note: If it doesn’t take admin as the password you might have changed it when you have run the RUN ME FIRST CD that came with the router, so please try other passwords.

If you cannot remember the password, please reset the router and reconfigure it. Please write down your password to avoid unnecessary reset and reconfiguration.

After accessing the router’s setup page, please follow these steps:

1. On the setup page, click on the "Wireless" tab and please take note of the SSID or the Wireless Network Name. I recommend that your Wireless Channel should be on "11" and click Save Settings.

2. After that, please click on the "Wireless Security" sub tab.

3. If the Security Mode is WEP (64bits or 128bits), take note of the value under the Key 1. That is your password or network key (it is case sensitive).

4. If the Security Mode is WPA-Personal or TKIP, please take note of the value on the WPA Pre-Shared key. That is your password or network key.

Since we are on the router's setup page, let us open specific ports to allow the Xbox to access the internet with the router. Here is how to do Port Triggering:

1. Click on Applications and Gaming Tab.

2. Under "Port Triggering" type in "Port One" under Application field.

3. For the "Port One" Application, the start and end port should be 88 to 88. Then click on the enable box.

4. Type in "Port Two" under the second Application field.

5. For the "Port Two" Application, the start and end port should be 3074 to 3074. Then click on the enable box.

6. Scroll down and click on Save Settings and Continue.

hope it helps ya

my nat used to be moderate now its open woot!

This does not help. But thank you. This is for port forwarding to ONE system. Does not resolve the issue with forwarding to MULTIPLE systems.

OK im a little confused what "issue" are yall actually having?? Do the games get laggy when you play with all the xboxs going?? I mean whats the deal? I have had 3 360 going at once at my apartment playing gears online and we never had any issues connecting or with lag. So what im trying to say is are yall having issues with connecting to games and lag? Or are you just anal and want all the NAT settings to be OPEN on every console???

Blazed - in my case it's connecting to other gamers online. Call of Duty 3 is particularly nasty on connecting players if your NAT is not open. We (my friend and I had two consoles on one router) wanted to take a break from Halo 3 campaign to play COD3, but with both consoles showing strict NAT we could not connect to any games. Once my console was removed from my friend's network his NAT went back to open.

See quotes below. NAT is the issue and it's not being anal. It slows things down or limits your ability to connect to many people that you would if it was fully OPEN.

Correct on both of these.
