Next Xbox 360 SKU (JASPER)
Well it looks like we wont have to wait to much longer for the next Xbox 360 SKU to hit. Starting August 2008 the newest console code named (JASPER) will indeed be featuring 65nm chips in both the cpu and gpu. This will appear to be Microsofts final attempt in 2008 at fixing the infamous 3ROD.
Right now the (FALCON) boards have a 65nm cpu and a 90nm gpu chip. By making the change to 65nm this will cut the heat down by nearly 20% and a whopping 35% when compared to the launch console. Now this doesnt mean Microsoft is done trying to cool the console down. By 2009 Microsoft plans on releasing 45nm chips in the console which will of course cut down even more on heat and cost of production.
Look for the (JASPER) consoles to hit this August.

I personally talked to Paul Allen about the next console which is where my numbers came from. I met Paul Allen when I was pitching my Halo 3 console to him but Bungie already had the Halo 3 console concept finalized which is why we got the green one. But I will say that Paul Allen liked my console so much that he bought my original Halo 3 creation. Ok I bragged enough lol.

Sounds good but who's really going to wait around until 2009 for the 45 chips to get one? Theres comes a point where you have to just buy the system as it is before the generation is over.

Well that will probably also bring a price cut to the console as well. That will make the console 4 years old and bearing down towards the end of its life. The console will probably cost about $200 for a 20gb and the following year the next console with hit the market.

man i am probably one of the few guys who got lucky and still did not suffer any red ring of death with my 360. and it is a 2005 one. i got it off ebay from parents who bought it for their son on xmas 2005.
still works like a breeze. did not even had an occasional freeze for a long time. touching wood !!

Another sku? That's great of them, but it ain't gonna fix the consoles of those who bought it. Why don't they just move on? I mean, there's enough skus already.

Why not just stick the 45nm chip they plan to use in 2009 in the NEXT upgrade in 2008. They basicly want people to keep buying new consoles. This is stupid. (not saying the idea of upgrading chips is stupid but having multiple stages of upgrading to get to the final product.)
God damn people spend enough money on the consoles, games, and accessories. Do we REALLY need to keep upgrading consoles EVERY year?!!?
