Which dvd drive to buy?
Ok well I'm getting the "please insert disc into a xbox 360 console" error when I'm trying to play a lot of games. This is after I had to follow a tutorial on youtube about re-glueing a washer onto the spindle that holds the disc in place when in the drive.
Needless to say I am ready to just buy and aftermarket dvd drive and be able to play with no problems. The question I have is which one should I buy? The one that is factory is the hitachi so I probably do not want another one of those. but which one do you all recommend? I don't want to waste and more money. and btw I don't have a warranty so I cant just send it in.
Thanks for any help you can give.

You cant just purchase a DVD rom drive and put it in to your console. You cant even take one off another console and have it work right away. Once you get a dvd rom drive you must flash the firmware with the exact same firmware that your motherboard is using or the games wont read.

the samsung is the most reliable. i switched my hitachi to a samsung after i started to get that error. no problems now. but the flashing is a bitch and a half to do. so u should google this phrase (your drive to samsung switch) and it should give you some site with tuts on what u have to do step by step. and some have video if u get lost.
