Is the xbox or the game case the cause of this?

My rainbow 6 vegas disc over time has developed cracks around the hole in the middle of the disc and today it finally won't work at all.

Heres a pic showing detail of the cracks in the center of the disc.

You can see there are no major cracks on the silver part of the disc.


Would my xbox had done this or is the bit you clip it in to inside the game case so tight it cracked the center of it?

I sold my Test drive unlimited a few months ago and nothing like this had happened like it did to rainbow 6 and now I'm thinking weather I should even bother buying more games to risk this happening again. This was my 2nd R6v copy as my first one scratched up the same day I got it (My 2nd copy has lasted about 5 months). Is it the disc?? mabey its weaker than other game discs?? or maybe my 360's lens is just fucking them up somehow? What do you thinks happening?? please help before I give up on xboxs (they are good when they work nonetheless).

My guess would be the case. I've had this happen to DVDs before, so I doubt it's the console.

this happened to my brothers copy of Oblivion, it's from the case. It is usually caused by ppl pulling the disc out of the case instead of actually pushing the center so the disc can pop out of the case.

like the guy above me said it is from not being careful when taking it out of the case. it happened to my cousins games to. it just not being careful enough

Doubt M$ would replace the game if the game's case was the cause. If the console ate it they might. It looks like you or someone else pulled a little too hard.
