Xbox360--Component or VGA?--no HDMI output on 360

I have a 50in plasma that has HDMI, Component, composite and VGA hookups. Currently I have my 360 hooked up thru component video (Red, Blue, Green).
Would going thru the VGA give me any better quality? I’ve done research and concluded myself component is better than VGA…..or am I wrong?

The reason I ask this is that now that the 360 HD-Dvd Player dropped to 49.99 I am thinking about getting that and everybody is seeming to use the VGA hookup to the tv that has this.

Can anybody give me any advice?

I have a slightly smaller 42" Plasma and I tried both VGA and Component. The VGA left a little bit of cut off on the left and right side, but the component was full screen, so I went with that instead. I don't think there is a whole lot of difference though between the two. To me 1080p looks the same as 720p.

I think it will partly depend on the TV you are using. The upscale/downscale engine in each TV differs. Also, both VGA and Component are analog so yuo should get pretty much the same clarity. Typically I use the Component cable to my Samsung LCD and don't notice much difference but it depends on the VGA resolution I've selected. I don't think the Samsung TVs handle upscaling/downscaling of the VGA resolutions as well as the fixed 1080i/720p resolutions. Also, make sure the you have good quality Component and/or VGA cables to reduce any loss and keep the picture as clear as it can be.

As for Mr Lyle's comment "To me 1080p looks the same as 720p"... if your TV is a native 720p resolution (1366x768p) then any higher input resolution like 1080p is downscaled to that native resolution anyway. Therefore it's actually possible that the TV will very slightly distort the picture. If your TV is actually 1080p native resolution 1920x1280p and you aren't seeing a difference than you may need your eyes checked.

HD-DVD is worth it for 49.99 with 5 free dvd!
Even if you just watch those 5 free dvd's, The Drive it self comes out to be free! since each hddvd is over 10 bucks anyways...

I am sure the prices are going to fall for the current hddvd movies.
