media center play avi's?
was wondering if the media center would play avi's...i have some videos on my pc i want to watch on the TV, it sees some of them (they're mpeg i think) but ive been trying to get the avi to show up on the xbox and it wont......do i need to convert it to mpeg?

Media Centre on the PC, yeah just install the relevent codecs.

Media Centre Extender on the 360. Yeah, but you need transcode to recode the files on the fly.

I'd just run them from the dash board with WMP11 sharing, it's heaps easier.

i got it to work, thanks....i think all i needed was to turn off the xbox and then back on for it to see the file
