Rockband, and overheating

Brand new, sorry to ask a few questions that are probably obvious to most of you.

1) With Rockband, how can I get the microphone to work? I can sing into the wireless microphone connected to the controler, but how can I tell the game that I would like to use the handheld that came with the game??

2) I don't play a lot, or for hours on end- but should I still invest in one of those "console cooler fan deals"???

3) I have never been to 360 live, I know I have to have a membership, but how do I enter into the live mode when I am playing a game?

1. I don't know, I don't own Rockband, sorry.
2. Most people swear, "Don't buy an intercooler, it hurts more than it helps." You can follow: Here is how my console is cooled (Pics) - Xbox 360 Forum if you know how to do that.
3. To sign into Xbox Live, on your dashboard, hit A on the, "# of profiles found" then hit A on your account to sign in.

1. connect the microphone by usb then u have to have an actual 360 controller plugged in to navigate the menus. (took me like an hour to figure out.)
2. dont they just burn out the internal fans by over stressing them either mod ur 360 or just leave it in an open area.
3. hit the big silver X on ur controller then sign in.

Connect the microphone to the 3 USB input adapter then plug it in the front of the xbox. Works for me???

As far as overheating. I sat my xbox beside the tv on a food tray. Plenty of room on all sides. Bought the game at 7:30pm played with friends to 6am in the morning non stop only stoping to pee and have a drink. My 360 still is ticking till this day.

just plug in your mic into the usb in front of the console and unplug your headset from the controller
