Falcon Overheating?

Has anyone had this happen? The woman in the shop told me that they still overheat and i should be aware and i said well they are ment to be better now with the new falcon chips ect. She didnt seem to know alot about it but she didnt think so. Anyways iv got 3 year warranty with mine but i have a falcon and it feels bloody hot iv only played it for a max of 4-5 hours over 2 days if that. Just wondering if anyone knows weather the falcons still fail the same? If they are cooler then the old one must have been red hot. Also she told me i have to choices leave it vertical and risk the disk scratching or turn it horizontally and risk it over heating. Which is the lesser of 2 evils lol. I had mine horizontal yesterday but proped up on a couple of books in the centre so the vents were clear. Thanks for any help or tips. I opted for their 3 year warranty so im not worried just dont want the hassle with it if i can avoid it. I was also playing with the idea of getting a standard desktop fan and pointing it at the xbox to cool it wata think.

Cheers

Well im really happy as some of you may have seen from my other thread i couldnt get the thing on hd on my hd ready tv but saw it had a dvi port and i happened to have an adapter from my graphics card for my pc so i have picture and now sound, dont know if its true hd but its 100 x better than wat it was. Anyways back to topic , yes women know little, but wat would you do put it horizontal or vertical and i deffo have a falcon but it is getting really warm just had it on then for about 10 mins while i set up the tv and it was pretty warm already. Suggestions i dont know mayb u should have it vertical , will it scratch the disks? Basically give me advice lol

anything overheats from lack of proper ventilation. you have a 3 year warranty so don't worry.

even the ps3 and wii's overheat anything electrical or mechanical will break sooner or later, nothing is like willie wonka's never ending gobstopper.

the 360 is awesome imo and i have a ps3, a psp, and a 360 and my wife plays the wii...they will all break, just consider the 360 a FORD.

I think the lady wanted you to buy the warranty The guy at bestbuy told me that these things overheat in a few hours and that I would be better of buying a PS3. I ask him "Do you own one, sir?" he responds by saying "No but I have friends who do and the best thing you can do is buy our warranty". I tell him "360's are covered by a 3 year RROD warranty" he says "Oh no thats for the arcade, and pro system, not the Elite system". Yeah right.........
