Display Problems

Hi all, For a day or so now, I been having a funny display with my 360, with the green sometimes flickering too bright and problems displaying large areas of solid colour. I put this down to a funny cable and just carried in with it until i could get a new one at the weekend. Anyway I was on it last night (with problem occuring) and after turning it off for a few hours thought I'd go back for a bit, but I could not get a picture. I was logged into live as a mate could see me as online but no picture or sound.
I borrowed a HDMI cable from a mate, but that did not do it. I also checked the ports by using the HDMI on the PS3, and that works fine on both ports.

Anyone have any ideas?

PS I have an Elite purchased on launch day through HDMI to a 42" plasma if this helps.

Probably early signs of RROD, as the graphics chip can fail to produce an image and the 360 may not always catch it and report the error. It may also be a settings problem (like your 360 set to HD while hooked to a TV that only supports SD or 720p modes). Try using the Composite input instead of Component. There's a switch on the HD cord that sets HD or SD. If none of the cords work, call Microsoft if you're under warranty.

I spoke to them lunchtime and that is what they suggested I do when I get home. The TV is a full 1080p compatible unit and was working absolutely fine 2 hours previous.
