Media Center Extender problems

Hi, just a quick one really, I hope some of you may do a search for help with connecting the 360 to the PC specifically as a Media Center Extender and find this helpful.

I have my PC connected to my router through a wireless connection
I have my XBOX360 connected to the exact same router but with an ethernet cable straight into one of the physical ports.

Now I could find and play my music, videos (even divx movies) and pictures through the "Media" blade of the 360, but my Windows Media Center PC (running Vista Ultimate) could never find my 360 as an extender. Even after following all the instructions and guides I could find.

Here is MY solution:

For some reason, when I disabled my wireless card through network connections on the PC, and then plugged it into a spare physical port on the back of my router with an ethernet cable, almost instantaneously an information bubble appeared in the notification area of my Vista taskbar saying "Media Extender detected".

Since then I've had no problems using the 360 as a media center extender.

I hope this helps, as I did a search of this forum and the above suggestion wasn't found anywhere (well I couldn't find it anyhoo)

I had my PC connected to my router via wireless, and my 360 wired to the same router. I didn't run into any problems with media sharing.

Kevo, you didn't neet to report this post to an admin to get a responce!

If you need Divx playback in Media Centre, you need an app called Transcode.

runtime360.com

it will recode Divx on the fly to WMV which is playable in Media Centre.

You can play Divx native though from the Video tab in the dash board, and with WMP11 media sharing.

There is a stickied thread abou this in the Console section.

Have you tried getting a code on the 360 when you try to set it up on the 360. If that is what you are asking.
