New Member, questions...
OK so i'm thinking of buying a 360. But i want the whole expirience with Xbox LIVE. The problem is that we don't have an ethernet port on the back of our computer to connect a router. What we have is a DSL speedstream box thing (probably a modem?) that's connected to this thing that you can attach many USB cables in it. So basically we don't wireless internet. My question is...is the XBOX 360 Wireless Adapter thing (connects to back of 360) like the Nintendo Wi Fi Connector for the Wii and DS, where it sends out internet signals to play online? If not ,do they make one? Or is there a good wireless router that connects through USB (maybe Linksys?)?
Thanks guys, I hope my question is answered...

I think Linksys routers can connect through usb. But that's a weird sounding router you have. What's the model number of/name of it? Also the Wireless 360 adapter just is used to hook up to a wireless router. It sounds like you think it hooks up to internet that isn't there (somethign like 3G with a cell phone?). Unless I greatly misuderstand you.

its not a router it's just for connecting the phone line to the back of it, what is a type of router that connects through USB not an thernet port on the back of a computer? Also what game should I buy as my first game? Either GT4, Assassin's Creed, or Halo 3?

Well to use a router you would need a cable modem I think. I am not sure if they make a router for a DSL modem or not. But you can look.

First - Does the speedstream modem have an ethernet port as well as USB? I know you said your PC doesn't have ethernet but does the modem? If the modem has an ethernet port any old generic wireless router will do exactly what you need it to...unless your speedstream modem is a bridge (which most of them are). You need to find out if your speedstream assigns IP addresses (has a DHCP server)...if it does then you can leave your pc hooked up the way it is, hook a router to the ethernet port, and connect to your wireless router via wireless adapter for your box. ORRRR...if the speedstream has and ethernet port and routes IP addresses you can just leave your pc to the USB connection and plug the xbox into the ethernet connection. BUT...if the modem is a true bridge you will NEED a router that allows for usb network connection - or just get a usb to ethernet adapter for your pc for like $20 and make everyone's life easier
And Gearsofwarkiler - pretty much all wireless routers are DSL/Cable routers, it'd be pretty tough to find a router that's specifically for one type of internet connection being that they all talk to each other via ethernet.
Hope that helps a little

not assassin's creed. I'd say GTA4, maybe Gears of War, maybe Halo 3

Just buy an ethernet adapter then connect your 360 to your computer through ICS.
