network adapter disconnected?

So about a month ago i bought a used xbox 360 from e-bay. The warranty has already expired but it's been working great. until today there haven't been any problems at all. Then all of the sudden when i tried to get on xbox live today, i couldn't sign in. ran a xbl test and it fails on the very first Network Adapter test. I had the xbox live wired to my wireless laptop through a bridge. I tried three different cables and plugged them through my computer and straight to the router. I also reset the router and xbox but nothing works. Anyone have any advice?

i had this problem with my wireless adapter from Pelican, but i don;t use my comp as a bridge, but it seems like a problem from the computer to the 360 as long as the laptop still works online.

ok so would it be possible to use a wireless adapter since it's usb? even though the Ethernet port might be busted is there a good chance that the usb port is ok? I'm pretty sure my x-box might have been hit by lightning a few days back during a big storm when i wasn't home. I think thats what caused the ethernet port to stop working as i said in the beginning of the thread.
