Arrow Red Ring Of Death (We all fear it)

Ok ive heard of RROD (Red Ring Of Death) for the Xbox 360.
On the 16th this month ill be getting a 360, and im worried about the RROD, as i am quite a heavy gamer,
im wondering if there has been any offcial improvements for the intercooling or the heatsink?

I also have a old PS2 which was fried so i took out the fan and
its a 7 Volt, 50mm fan i think. which works fine on a 9Volt battery and produces a nice amount of cool air.

Im wondering if a place this towards the 1 of the 360'3 ventts will this do harm?.. i know there are vents which "exhale" the hot air, so if i place this on one which is not "exhaling" will this do any good?.

I have also been looking online for some Cases that would have more venting but have failed to find.

I cannot afford an extra $100 atm
otherwise i would save up and buy a PS3..

Any suggestions are welcome

Thanks

Well im still on my first one and have been for the last 1 and a half years, and it has been used well.
You have to make sure you keep your 360 with plenty on room behind for the hot air to escape, maybe 10 inches or so.
Do not keep your 360 on any carpet, or any other soft materials which could help retain the heat.
As for the fan, i'm not sure- you could probably make use of it some how, but wait for someone who knows to post.

And tampering with your 360 will break your warranty.

dude seriously you don't have to worry about the RROD..many people do and it's pretty annoying tbh

i played my 360 for 12 hours straight once and it wasn't even over heatin' or anything..the ps3 gets hotter than the 360 sometimes aswell so why aint the ps3 owners findin' ways of cooling thier ps3's even more..

you don't need to spend extra money on your 360 for it to be reliable..

just keep it in a well ventelated area and it'll be fine..

well about the fan, i dont think it would do much, I also own a ps2, i had to repair it once and i saw that the fan is pretty small so it would not help too much unless you would put it in front of the heatsinks inside the xbox. So from the front it blows air into the heatsinks and the original fans pull it out at the back of the heatsinks. Of course for this you would need to take apart your xbox and void the warranty. You would also need to connect it to a power a source INSIDE the xbox and you could actually be banned for that like many people were that added fans to their xbox. Hope its clear

RROD is not the only thing you have to worry about... I'm on my 3rd Xbox and they have all had faulty disc drives. My current one has just broke... I've been restricted to playing arcade games in the fear that my 360 will get hungry again and eat my discs.

You will be covered for 1 year in the store you buy your 360 from, then a further 2 years with the Microsoft warranty. Don't worry about it, as long as you don't mod it you will be covered for 3 years.

Hmm

Yeah i have heard about the faulty disk drives, something about they had now safety catch or something.

And also, i keep on a desk whth plenty of room behind, i might use the fan just to blow the hot air that is coming out the back to the side... instead of rebounding of the wall (probably wont do anything). but hey.. just a precaution.

Also ill scrap the idea of a new case, and the people who are talking about fans on the inside. Im not going to add any fans internally cause of the warranty lolz,

And,
The Xbox 360 is covered by the store for 1 year and Mircosoft for 2

With the store.. If i get any failure of the 360, will the store exchange my broken for a new one..or possibly repaired?

With MS.. Dont they have you send it to Texas or some shi* to be repaired, swapped or whatever?..

I heard that when they take them to Texas, they replace the heatsink with a larger one.

Its 2008, Have they officially improved the intercooling of the 360?
and have they restocked EB gamestores with the 360..
as EB was gonna drop the whole line of 360's due to faults and people complaining..

Thanks

Why don't you just save up more cash or loan some from your parents and buy a ps3? It's only 50 bucks more and if you buy xbox live, it's the same price.
