New to the game
hey there I haven't joined this latest generation of consoles (wii xbox 360 and ps3)
I've been gaming online with my pc since my original modded xbox but in light of the price changes I'm considering buying an xbox 360 my problem being is I'm not up to date with what the xbox 360 does what's important etc
I've got a budget of around £230 and I want to play grand theft auto 4 online with a few friends of mine (and possibily some more games in the future), I've been looking at this arcade version as I'm thinking of getting that but what else will I need i.e. wireless headset etc is a hard drive important? At the moment I've got my pc rigged to my modded xbox via ethernet so I figured I won't need a wireless adapter to my router
Also what other games are out there, that are worth playing online?

Saints Row is fun to play, both offline and online, so is Dead Or Alive. Nothing like a good fight over the web to clear stress! Saints Row 2 is due out in the next month or so too....watch out for that. Gears Of War has been recommended to me in the past, too.

Well you'll need a hard drive to play online.

you can also buy a xbox 360 memory card instead of the hdd because a memory card is less expensive

I believe you need a hard drive to play online, the memcard wont work (someone verify please). new 360's have headseats, but the arcade version doesnt. the headset isnt really necessary, but if you want one get one.
as for games, other than the obvious GTA IV, Call of Duty 4 and halo 3, i also recommend Rainbow sixe vegas 1 and/or 2.
hope this helped

I don't know where the hell this "you need a hard drive to play online" crap came from, no you don't.
However, a memory card really won't do you any good if you ever want to download stuff from Live, like demos for example.

I'd not recomend the Arcade version of the Xbox 360, you'll have to buy a memory card, maybe a hdd, headset and other accessories, you live in the UK get yourself an Argos card, spend over £195 and pay within 6months with no interest.. so you can buy a few games or at least one depending if u buy it right then, or pay in the 6months. I got the 60GB version this way for around £200 as i wanted to buy a wireless adapter guitar hero/guitar etc and gta 4, second hand games are around £8-30 depending on release date and titles. Just an idea.

arcade comes with a pretty big memory stick actually. 512mb i think. so no hdd purchase. all xboxs come with headsets, and other accessories are the OP's choosing.
