Had RROD but now Screen Freezes (I AM STUMPED)

Just fixing a friends 360 he was a dumb and just bought it off the street. Ok its NOT HDMI, it does have the ANA scaler chip. This one unit had 3 red rings. I opened it up saw someone else refurbished it (not microsofts seal) I took x-clamps off the thermal paste was still new. I cleaned it off really good. Applied new thermal paste over heated the unit waited 1 hour turned on. It went to boot and froze, I cut it off and did it again. I took it back apart wrapped pennies in electrical tape put it on top of the ANA scaler chip, then the fan schroud on and re-assembled the whole thing. It booted up fine. put a game in played it for 5 minutes and the screen freezes again. So I shut it off, cut it back on and now 3 RROD is back!! WTF?? Please any insight??

Just cleaning it out ain't going to fix it! The damage has already been done, you need a real RRoD fix. Personally, I would do the Team Hybrid's X-Clamp Replacement. It is, at least in my experience, the best X-clamp replacement mod out there. Instead of just clamping down the heatsinks using screws, it evens the forces on the board by countering the downward force of the heatsink with a foam pad, exerting the force that is usually applied at the screws to the center of the foam pad, creating a balanced force at a single point (for those who know physics, two forces acting opposite at a point means 0 net force [it won't move] and 0 net torque [it won't bend/rotate]). The problem with the original X-clamp replacement is that the downward force acts on the center point on the top while the upward force acts on the 4 corners. Again, physics would say that the forces would cancel, but when hot the board is no longer rigid, the forces (applied at different points) create a torque, causing the board to warp and break connections. (I hate physics btw, just had a stupid test on it though and am trying to make use of it)

Basically, just do the Team Hybrid X-clamp replacement.
