No I didnt mean that! I mean, designers want to make big games, the only option for them is to do that on bluray atm, if MS want these games on the xbox without making a blu ray player they need multiple disc games which need to be installed on a HDD, if you have a 120gb HDD you can only store 3 or 4 games so the xbox needs a bigger HDD to be able to play those future games.

THere are already 500gb laptop hard drives. I'm sure it would be possible to create a housing to hold 2 of these. So the technology is certainly there. As for how practical it would be for MS to do this, it is highly unlikely. The most commonly used (biggest size) laptop hard drive used it a 320gb. I think this would be plenty of space for a 360. But MS would definitely not be able to price gouge on it like they do with their current hard drives. I mean honestly, 150 for 120gb its just freaking rediculous. They could take away the limitations on what hard drives to use with an update, that would be the most economical thing to do.

So why is there not a manufacturer on the market doing this already for hard drives??? Remember Microsoft doesn't make the hard drive, they just buy it from a manufacturer.

Why would they NOT be able to price gouge on it? They are doing that now with the 120GB drives. As long as they remain the sole supplier of the hard drives, they can do anything they want.

Sure, but why would Microsoft want to do that. Just make it so that larger hard drives are really required...and then be sure that you are the only supplier and you can keep the price whereever you want it. Why would they want to take away such a nice revenue stream with a console update?

They COULD price gouge on it but who would by it? Most cost conscience people wont even buy a 120gb because of the price.
If MS wants to keep their customer base when hard drive space becomes a deciding factor, they are going to have to do something to keep people from going to the PS3. If MS wants to keep being as greedy as they are when downloading software becomes the mainstream (and it certainly will), they will lose customers, and therefore lose this revenue stream.
EDIT: On a side note, if Best Buy decides to roll out the selling of used games (as they are testing in certain stores now), it will only quicken the movement of digital game downloads as a norm. Developers to not see a dime of revenue from the sale of used games. Why would they not start offering digital only?

the only reason why they would make it is because all games will be able to be downloaded but who the heck wants a download then a solid disk because if u download there is no reselling it after you're done lol

Anyway I'm happy with my Xbox 360 Pro with 60gb hard drive. But once Project Natal is released may be I'll purchase that if compatible with my system.

Lots of people got the 120GB drive. Lot's of people upgraded consoles and went with the elite to get the 120GB drive.
As soon as downloading becomes more prevalent, they will be able to reduce the price of games a bit...but then recoup their costs with the larger hard drives people will need. I don't forsee gaming to become inexpensive anytime in the near future.
