how do you open the computer usb wireless adaptor?
this:

Mine stopped working, and I'd like to poke around in it to see if I can fix it. I've tried prying with a screw driver, but that does nothing. I don't see any screw holes.

okay, so I got it opened, and I soldered a jumper onto the fuse as directed here:
fixya.com/support/t1393388-help_microsoft_xbox_360_wireless
and now the receiver works (lights up and the light flashes when I hold the button for a few seconds) but the controller will not connect. What do I do? The ring of lights on the controller keeps flashing. I've tried new batteries, and no dice.

Yes. I've held down both buttons to make them synchronize, and the receiver will act like its synchronized, and the controller will go from the lights spinning to all the lights flashing on and off, which if I'm not mistaken is the low battery indicator. It does the same thing with new batteries.
