HDD hardware Mod

Hi all,

I've tried looking for this and cannot really find a definitive answer, so I thought you chaps could help.

Being a bit short on cash I was wondering if I can use an old 40gb laptop HDD to replace my existing Xbox360's 20gb HDD, as I'm running out of space on it!! I understand that this is technically possible, but I need to know the following

1) does it need to be SATA or IDE?

2) Does it need to be preformatted to NTFS, FAT32 or left as a new partition(RAW)

3) does it have to be a similar size to currently available official drives in capacity (ie 20Gb, 80Gb, 120 Gb, 160Gb)

4) would this mod violate the ToS for Xbox Live and get my xbox banned, cos if so I'd rather not bother.

I don't know if we're allowed to talk about this but fuck it.

From what i know, you can only use 20gb and 120gb HDD's. You need to get hold of a key so that the xbox reads the HDD as an Xbox 360 HDD. But the HDD must replace your current HDD. So you couldn't buy an external HDD and flash that with the key.

Cheers for the info. I can't see how this would be classed as illegal as I won't be playing copied games, it will be for legitimate purposes only (ie to fund microsoft with more money when I download crap off the marketplace lol), but if it's gonna get me banned from live, I'd rather just save my money up and get an official HDD. Kinda sucks that MS won't ban you for using a Belkin ethernet cable, a Mad Catz controller or a third party headset, but the moment you stick a western digita drive in it you're in the shit...
