Xbox 360 rrod

Alright so i bought my xbox off ebay and it worked for about a year but now has 3 rings of death. I opened it up to take off the x clamps and clean the heat sinks and stuff but the xclamp mod was already performed so I just cleaned the heat sinks with rubbing alcohol and put them back on with the same screws and washers then I overheated the xbox and it worked for about a week. Is there a way for me to fix the 3rrod if xclamp has already been performed.

Also, i didnt use thermal paste and the people who fixed it before did so there is no thermal paste on it. Should i buy thermal paste and retry cleaning the heatsinks and stuff?

Help Pleasee

yes thermal past is a must !!!!! i found mine @ radio shack i bought the silver ( the most expencive )
but workes . also have had a bad experence with letting it over heat on its own as i think it had got to hot and cracked my gpu . best to use a heat gun or a high power hair dryer . to not over heat it too much .
