Just heat the sticker up and the glue will stick.

Some consoles just dont overheat like others do. Some cars never have a trans problem and others do. This is only to help prevent overheating which definately cuts down on the chance of it getting the 3ROD.

nice job
I was plain stupid and took off my warranty sticker cause the "Microsoft" looked ugly (and I had no clue it was a warranty sticker back then...)
so what fan do you recommend, XCM or whisper max?

Here is my unique take on the matter.
If the Xbox360 is overheating and causes RROD...then it has a problem. If you mask the problem by adding additional cooling...you potentially just prolong the inevitable. With the 3 year warranty going right now, I guess I would rather let it break, hopefully get it actually fixed and then be ok in the end. By masking the problem, you might find yourself down the road outside of that factory MS warranty.
Either way, if it gives you piece of mind and you enjoy modding...by all means....go for it.

If you use the XCM fan then you can easily add the extra fan to the heatsink which works out nicely. My wifes 360 is using the whisper fan only and that has been working out good for her. There is a new Whisper Fan Nitro that is supposed to be bad ass to. Its really up to as I have no problems with either fan.

Hi, I made this mod just over a year ago and it works very well. I also use the newer version of the intercooler. Idle temps have dropped from 60c idle to 28c at the gpu heatsink and from 50c to 31c on the cpu (older type non piped). I have also opened up the right hand side of the case and added a hd twin cooler fan, along with wiring the internal fans to 12v 100% of the time.
Temps without the mod at full HD for 1 hr are nearer the boiling point of water CPU 80c!
After running full hd 1080i on GOW for 1hr I measured the temps using an infrared device. These are stable temps measured at idle for 1hr and at 1080i full hd GOW (no HDMI) via component.
It seems to me the x-clamps are fine and not just used by microsoft anyway. However any device running 80c+ will cause the board, solder and possibly cpu/gpu compound to fail sooner than later. The Xbox 360 was designed without enough cooling period!
With the above mods, my case does not even get warm, my discs exit the machine after a long session cool to the touch (exhaust air temps out the intercooler are around 45c at full tilt with much higher volumes of air being sucked out the back of the Xbox 360 . With my first machine (3 red lights within 5 hrs of getting it out of the box) the case was hot to the touch (in the upright position). Now the CPU and GPU temps do not even reach 50c even after a long session with the mods.
The above mods are by far the best way to protect against the 3 red lights of doom.
As for the intercooler getting bad press, its a fine product when used correctly with the power cable inserted properly. If the intercooler or power cable become slightly detached then its likely to arc and cause failure. Many have stated the intercooler draws to much power on start up, which is odd since I can charge 2 controllers, run a hd fan on the side a pelican stand and intercooler with no start up problems what so ever. I would think the PSU is more than able to cope with what is only a few extra milliamps of power drain.
I will admit that my Xbox 360 is noiser than a wind turbine powering a small village, but hey thats the price I have to pay for peace of mind.
