please help guys, i got the 3ROD, then i did the towel trick and it went fine. but something in me told that it will just kill the console sooner or later. Then i went on some searching spree for the solution and found that X-clamp trick should be the solution for the problem(the error codes were 0102). As of now i have cleared the previous thermal pastes on the CPU and the GPU and today when i get the nylon washers i'm going to apply the new thermal paste(that Artic one) and do the X-Clamp thing. So my question is when i finally do all the steps, and if i get the console ready to play once again, what should i do? i want to have a better cooling solution to my console, i'm planning to add additional fans but i don't know anything about soldering and that kind of electrical stuff(though i will learn it pretty quickly if there's a guide/tut availabe, becoz i opened up my 360 watching a youtube video!!).
please guys help me ASAP on this problem. sorry for a long post.
and very nice forums indeed...

Do the 12V fan mod if you want more cooling (I posted a tutorial here).

My X clamp fix I just put the screws into the board. I had them into the metal frame and then the board before, but that made it warp and give a motherboard warping error. I recommend just putting in this order:

From bottom to top:

Screw | Metal Washer | Nylon Washer | BOARD | Nylon Washer | Metal Washer | HEATSINK

This keeps the case from interfering.

After doing that, you need to overheat the system. Some people say not to let the CPU overheat, but I simply ran the board without any fans until it overheated with 2 red lights and shut down. After letting it cool, reinstalling fans, drive, etc...it booted right up.

Update:
guys, i fifnshed the X-Clamp mod, 360 boots up ok but it doesn't detect the wireless controller, when i press the guide button 360 boots up but doesn't detect it, any fix for?
edit: i still didn't re-assemble it, it is still open, DVD drive is connected but i've kept it outside and i haven't put the shroud yet, after few minutes, 360 gives 2ROD. what can be the problem?
UPDATE: ok keept it on nearly for half hour now with that shroud placed, and yet no signs of the red rings, but can anyone please guide me how to make 360 detect my controller becoz a working 360 is kinda useless without a controller

Nothing happens when you press the sync button on the console? Thats a problem obviously. I wonder if the RF board is fried.

Personally I think the x-clamp mod is pointless. Some say it works. I say its because they removed the heatsinks and replaced the thermal compound resulting in a bit cooler temps. You can try purchasing a spare RF board from ebay.

cannot buy off from ebay, since i don't have a bank acc. but can u tell me some Do It Yourself thing, but still r u sure it's becoz of fried RF board? becoz when i sync them both (controller and console) lights (all 4 of them) flash but then the console won't detect anything and then there's no flashing of lights on the console but on controller all four lights keep flashing.
EDIT: how does RF board looks like, any pics please
