Custom full case mod for csvt98 !!!!!FINISHED!!!!!!

The project is in progress now and I am giving step by step pictures of whats going on. The other thread was closed because it was cluttered and I forgot to reserve a few spots for pictures.

Day 1

I got the console in the mail today and took that bad boy apart. I used my hair dryer trick to preserve the warranty sticker just in case. I took a before picture so I can show a before and after.





Here I replaced the stock fans with blue Talismoon Whisper fans (4pin). I also replaced the RF board with a custom board which has blue smd lights instead of green. (I already had the RF board with blue lights)



I am currently waiting for the blue cathode lights to be delivered from divineo.com. Once I get those I will be soldering them to the board. I will provide pictures of course.
Next I will be sketching the design on the case.


DAY 2

Started cutting today and wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do with the flame.



After cutting out the inside of the eye I wanted to make it look more like the picture so I carved in the eye lashes and such. The carved parts will be painted more to match the actual TOOL picture.



This picture is after a little bit of sanding. There is still much more sanding and work to be done.



The pieces still connected to the case will be cut off. They are there to help me cut the case and sand the pieces. Plexiglass will eventually hold the separate pieces in place.

Day 3

After cutting out the design and sanding the edges down so that they are completely smooth, I went and applied Bondo over the rest of the etched "Xbox 360" and "Microsoft" logos on the case. Then I sanded the Bondo down to a flat smooth finish.






After that I started to prime the parts which included: Case, Hard Drive, Wireless Adapter, Faceplate, and Side Grills.

After about 15-25 mins I started painting the parts black. Here is a shot of the top of the case with its first coat of paint.



I installed the lights and here is a shot of the light test to make sure everything was working properly.




Tomorrow I apply the clear coat to all the parts and then 24hrs later I will assemble the console back together for some serious hardware testing to make sure everything works perfectly.


Day 4

Started doing the little detail work in the logo. I was going to go with the actual colors of red, green, and purple but after looking at the logo I decided to go with white instead so the colors didnt clash. I figured white was the best choice since it stuck out well with the black case.

Day 5 (Final day)

Here is a shot of all the pieces painted.



After the clear coat dried for 24hrs I assembled the console and did some testing to make sure everything worked properly.

Oh just from experience. My very first mod wasn't all that great but the more I did the better I got. To get good I bought like 5 cases from ebay and started modding them. Eventually I started doing mods for friends and members.

Whats your design for the CoD4 case?

actually he decided its better not to do a COD4 mod because well it will be an outdated theme when COD5 hits. We are working on putting together a TOOL theme.
