Red Light On The Power Brick After Mod???

I recently performed the xclamp removal mod an changed it to the screws and washers, i have done this lots of times, but this time when i put it all back together and pressed the power button the fans spun for a second then...nothing. Now there is a red light on the power brick. Is my board dead??? Please help! thanks.

Chances are no. You have a bridged connection somewhere. The 360 mobo is so big, it is hard to pinpoint where it would be...

Try loosening the screws on the heatsinks...maybe that will solve the problem, maybe you are pushing to hard on the processors and a power and ground are touching somewhere...

eh...

The Red light on the PSU means you got a short circuit somewhere on the motherboard. You can try a different PSU, there is a chance your PSU broke...but that is really good timing for it to break after you do the mod.

Did you do any soldering anywhere? Did you accidently knock off any small components off of the motehrboard when you removed the X clamps? It is really hard to tell here. Try unplugging the fans and the RF board and the DVD drive and everything. Just have the motherboard plugged into the PSU. See if it gives you the red light, then you could see if it is caused by the RF board or something....

You might be screwed here, you said it turned on for a second and then nothing...you might have fried your motherboard. You could have knocked off a capacitor or something and fried something. It is just too big of a motherboard to really troubleshoot the whole thing unless you are an electrical engineer...

The chips are very sensitive. If you over tighten them there is a good chance of cracking the chip. You wont even see the crack but if it is cracked then its over. Dead console. I have personally never done the x-clamp mod and I have never seen a 3ROD on 360 console that I have owned. And I have owned quite a few. A simple cooling mod is all the console needs. Replace stock fan, add chipset fan to the cpu heatsink, and the console is all good.

True, but for the people who already have a RRODed xbox, paying microsoft 100$ is just simply out of the question.

@the person who started this forum, if you tighten the processors down unevely(aka, tighten 1 screw to the maximum without even putting in the other screws) that is where you cracked the processor because you put a WAY uneven pressure on the motherboard and processor alike
