What can you use besides the special opening tool to pop the case open?
I tried using my friends super small flat head screwdriver, but it didn't work.
Any suggestions?

You can't open it with out the screw drivers i stated. BUt you can use a knife instead.

I bought one of these the other week and it's so much faster opening.

I was able to pop my friend's case off with a fork.
Yes, a fork.
And all the tabs and such are still intact.

Nice one, I have my own method of taking the vents off though which takes 3-4 seconds (no, I don't just pull 'em off and break the clips)
Once you get the hang of it, opening and putting back together the whole case will only take 1-2mins.
