No you need nylon washers to go up against the board to prevent damaging the board

you are going to get at least 3 sets of conflicting advice on this -:

some say the nylon washers will protect the PCB, while others say the nylon washers are not 'finite' meaning the heat will alter their characteristics (thickness).

and then you have my schoolof thought, i recommend you use neither of the above but re-use the original clamps, making sure ALL the old gunk is removed with a cleaner agent

so pick your horse and go to the races your not
going to jail over it lol!

mine popped up the E74 error a couple weeks ago. i took it to my friend who fixed his about 6 months ago. his has the 3 rings. well we got it back up and going with nylon washers and new screws and thermal paste. but weve had to take it apart 3 times now. it will work for a day or 2 at a time and then will start doing the matrix screen again. and before you even say it techytype its not because we used the washers and new screws to fix it. i dont know if the wrong size screws were used or what happened. my friend said that it may be because the screws that we used have counter sunk heads.what do you guys think? i think im gonna clean all the paste off and do that part again. i dont think i cleaned it good enough to have a mirror effect. i mean i got it clean but i dont think i got it that clean. im definately open for suggestions to say the least. if i cant get it going this week for good i'll just go buy another 360. but i dont wanna do that so please help me
