Wish I had known about this sooner....
My 360 has had the RROD since about September of '08. Fortunately my roommate had his own 360, so we just shared. I was way past my one-year original warranty period. I found out about a month ago that the warranty was extended to 3 years. I go check my reciept (Pro-Tip: Tape your electronics receipts to the inside lid of the box...makes them much easier to find.) and I see that my purchase was April 4, 2006...just my luck...
But just last week, I did the penny trick in place of the thermal pads and so far so good! Before, my 360 wouldn't even stay on long enough to see a picture. Just straight to RROD. If you're out of warranty it can't hurt...

I got this error code last week! thankfully it was covered or I might have exploded. I love how my N64 still works perfectly but my 360 is busted

Yeah but PS3's are shit :P
My 1 year warranty is gone so I'm glad this is now 3 years.
