xBox 360 Connection... through laptop?

Can I plug my ethernet cable in my laptop (On Wireless connection) and plug the other end into my xBox360 to get on xBox live? Would this work, and will the connection be good? Any help is appreciated.

Yes.

But no.

You need what is called a "crossover" cable. They look exactly like normal ethernet cables, but 2 of the wires inside the cable are crossed over so you can hookup 2 things without using a router.

Also, I know you can do it in Windows XP but I am not sure about other OS's.

So if you get a cross over cable and hook it up to your 360 and laptop, go to

start>control panel>network connections

You should probably have like 2 or 3. One will be something to do with your wireless adapter on your laptop, and one will be called "local area connection".

Hold the Ctrl button on your keyboard and click on both the local area connection icon and the other icon (that is called wireless connection or w/e)

so you should have both of those icons selected. now right click and hit bridge connections, it takes like 5 mintues to bridge them, then you should be good!

You can use ICS or Bridging (Bridging preferred in a wireless setup) both are covered on my site

After I bridge connections I am still unable to acquire an IP address. I have tried EVERYTHING and some help would be greatly appreciated. My IP is set manually and DNS set as automatic. Have never gotten past IP when trying to connect to live through my laptop (windows xp) .. tried sharing connections as well and that didn't work ..

hope you've enjoyed my rant of frustration,
