Who can help me out??
Ok, im going out with a mate the weekend and hes getting an xbox 360 Elite, he also wants a laptop or a desktop hes not sure what yet, my question is, hes got broardband band but hes only got the modem that his isp provided that only has one ethernet port, now he is going to use this to run his desktop so that means he wont have an ethernet port to plug the elite into, can he plug the elite into the desktop(aswell as the modem) and do internet sharing?? if so how does that work???

yeah but lets just say he dont buy a router is it possible to use internet sharing and how does it work and what would he need

It is possible, but it sucks. Here's a link.
Go wireless with your XBox 360, without the $100 MS adapter

Tht's for wireless, but I imagine the set up would be quite similar and easier if it were wired.

im the same mate i just have one ethernet conection in my broadband box....
so i just plug out the yellow ethernet cable fo my pc and plug in the one fo the xbox not as if i goin to b on xbox live and here at the same time but i think i just goin to get a converter for it wit 2 ethernet conections in it
