I am anticipating Final Fantasy XI and really want to get my internet connected. Here is the issue: I am about ready to go buy the wireless adapter but wanted to see if I could avoid it first. I tried every possible combination of things I could find on the internet to get my laptop to function as a router and can not get past the DNS check. I live in an apartment complex with wireless internet shared over my floor so I dont have access to a wall plug or to the base station. My question is would it even work if I got the wireless adapter and mainly what can I do to get this connected. I have all of the right DNS server info for my connection etc.
P.S. I am running on a Mac but that doesn't really change much except what programs to use. The info is all still the same.

when i do all this, it just fails on the IP Adress test, why is that?

Can i use the ethernet cable and connect it from my Xbox 360 to the back of my modem instead of my computer. I want to use ICS.

Your question doesnt make sense I'm afraid. Connecting from your PC to Xbox is using ICS. Connecting from your Xbox to an ethernet modem/router is a direct connection.

Wetback Needs Some Help
Yo I need some help..I'm getting a 360 in a week or two. Well I have Bellsouth DSL Internet. I'm using the ethernet cable so I can access the internet. When I get my 360 I want to get live and I don't know what to do. Do I need to buy something? Cuz the modem that came with the internet only has one ethernet connection. Is there anything I can buy like a ethernet router?  |

you can get a wired ethernet router and they are pretty cheap now.... but just be sure that its comatible w/ your modem and service.... but it should be... just get a decent router and it should be fine....

yea you connect the modem to the router then the router to your pc and your 360.
