Warning: Opening an Gold subcription as Child Account

I will breifly describe the situation. If more details are wanted, I will post them.

Last Janruary 2009 I (a 52 year old man) purchased and open a Gold subscription for my 13 year old son. Foolisly I registered it with his information, and am managing it with
parental permissions since it it a child account.

4 months go on and now I want to subscribe to Netflix. Opps, can't do that because the account is under 18 years of age.

I've contacted the Xbox Live support number and have spoken to 3 XBoc Live reps, a Supervisor, and the billing dept. They all said the same thing. They cannot transfer the Gold account to my Xbox Live account. Neither will they promote the account to adult. Tehy also will not allow me to cancel the account.

I asked them why i do not have any control over the Gold subcription that I paid
for. Also, there is a credit card associated with both accounts, and i have used
it to purchase ms points for map packs and such. It's ovious that as the owner
of the credit card used for registration, that I am the owner. No such luck,
The accout is 'stuck' and I have no control over it to transfer, or, cancel.
My only option is to purchase an additional Gold subscription that I will
register to myself, to use for Netflix. This was acceptable with the Xbox Live reps.


Needless to say, i am very upset by this. Nothing I can do about it - I'll have to get a Gold subcription if i want NetFlix. This makes getting the NetFlix subcription that much more.

I would ONLY get NetFlix via streaming to the Xbox360, never via mail. I know 2 people that were charged for movies that never made it back to NetFlix via mail. Streaming is much more conveinent.

Yeh. just proves that doing the right thing is sometimes the wrong thing to do.

You could always just stream netflix on your computer
