Unhappy Connectiong to XBL through laptop, HELP PLEASE!

Ok, well I just got a new xbox 360 and I really want to get online to play with my friends. I heard that i could connect to xbox live through a laptop, I tried but when i go to test the connection it says DNS fails every time... and sometimes IP adress fails before it. Can someone please tell me how i cant make it work? i just spent $300 and I really dont want to spend 100 more on an adaptor.

Please use language that a 10 year old could understand, i dont know know any of your technical terms... all i know is that i have Wireless internet, two laptops in my house, and i THINK i have a gateway

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP,
Griffin

why don't you just plug in directly to the xbox? use an Ethernet cable and your wireless router as a hub. (if thats not simple enough please someone make it easier for them)

you have to go to control panel
then click on network connections
then go to the connection that you want to use and click on it
then go to the tab that says advanced and tick the box that says
allow ther networks to connect through this computers internet connection
and then try it

ugh... the only things on youtube were about how to connect through ICS... which I've been trying. I restored my xbox to factory defult and took down my Windows Firewall. Now IP always makes it but DNS still fails... where can i find my DNS address so i can enter it manually?

Get an ethernet cable. Then bridge your Wireless Connection to your Local Area Connection. That's what I did.
