I'm determined to fix my game.

The other night I was playing GTA4 while charging my controller and I pulled too hard on the cord and my Xbox came tumbling down. It fell about a foot, landed on my guitar amp, than another foot onto my carpet. The 360 is fine but GTA is scratched all the way around the outer edge. I'm determined to find a way to fix it without having to buy another game. So far I have tried car wax and this Meguiar's PlastX stuff. Both gave me minor improvements but the disc is still unreadable so right now I'm trying the toothpaste method (what have I got to lose). Has anybody else here gone through what I am going through and successfully repaired a disc? If so, please share your stories with me.

Just got done polishing after using toothpaste. I haven't gotten an "unreadable disc" error but the game is frozen. Maybe I'll try it again. I'm hoping for some better ideas though.

Yeah. I didn't read much of that page tbh, I read about using Brasso ages ago in a magazine and I remember it saying that you could easily make it worse if you don't do it in a particular fashion.

Alright, this will sound really stupid. Whenever my PS2 games didn't work or were badly scratched, I read this article on boiling your disc, so I did it cause it was better than having to buy a new disk. So you gotta boil hot water, then place the disc in it for like 5 minutes.

    That works Renegade.

It gets rid of stuff between discs, It's worth a try. It works with HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays that don't work too.
