Slow µTorrent

Hello everyone,

I was very happy and excited at getting my new comcast high-speed internet connection. Then I decided to put it at good use. After that, I was even more happy that I was able to register at Demonoid (the best torrent site). I started downloading torrents and was usin µTorrent as my client. At first, it was working great, 150 - 400 kbs! Then out of nowhere about 2 - 3 days later, the download speed slowed down to 0 - 6 kbs! I tried everything to fix it. Used the internet and friends for advice and also messed with settings but nothing worked. What happened and how do I fix it? Help is greatly appreciated.

Depends on the seeds.

your keeping your ratio up aren't you on demonoid? (i always keep mine well above 1.0)

limit your upload speed to 1kb/s until it's downloaded then unlimit it when its completed downloading.

don't foget to choose the torrents with high seed numbers.

I'm new to downloading things and using torrents so I'm sorry to sound really stupid but, what do you mean by ratio, where can you see the seed numbers of torrents, and what are seeds?

ok basically if you download a film at 700mb you'd need to upload the same amount to keep your ratio at 1.00

demonoid are pretty strict, they don't like people who download stuff and then close their connection without sharing (uploading) for a bit until they've got 1.00 or higher.

seeds are basically the amount of people sharing the file, so if there's 1000 seeds then you can download the file off 1000 people so it will be faster than downloading it from say 100 seeds.

Also keep in mind that your upload on your broadband connection is usually only a fraction of your download speed. Therefore, in order to upload enough data to keep your ration of uploads to downloads over 1.0...it's going to take quite a bit of time.

It's also possible, although unlikely at this point, that your ISP is throttling your connection speed.

yeah is you've overdone it then you'll notice a slowdown.

i've not been limited yet (even tho i've downloaded about 350gb utorrent says since i formatted my pc a couple of months ago.

I think it's demonoid. Been going slow for me too, no matter the seeds.

i've not got anything from dn in a while, usually get it from mininova cuz axxo updates there before he adds onto demonoid.

I've mainly been ripping music lately. TPB is better than noid. Just wish oink hadn't died.
