AntiVir Premium is free for 6 months!

I posted this in the free A/V thread, but only people still searching for one will probably notice it. I thought it was worth mentioning outside of it to bring peoples' attention to it.

All of you using free A/Vs have NO REASON not to use this!
The directions include translations of the fields to fill in.

Hope that helps a few of you

I'm not exactly sure to tell the truth. So I guess it's good for as long as it lasts ( in other words YMMV )

Still, hopefully it does some good for those that have a stubborn infection or want some extra benefits for an extended period of time before the offer ends.

Not only have you revived a dead thread, but you've also proven you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Avast has disappointing efficiency, virus definitions, and a dismal heuristics engine today.

Avast used to be alright as did AVG. They're dieing names now as far as I'm concerned though. They used to be alright when competition was sparse, but more companies have been forced to improve their programs and have successfully surpassed the former benchmarks of AV protection.

Avast blows. I actually still like AVG and Kaspersky.

So, what do you recommend these days in the free realm of antivirus. Personally, I have AVG on my Windows box and I have Avast on my wife's laptop (as she disliked the updating from AVG. I do 98% of my web surfing and such from a Linux machine..., I don't do p2p apps, I don't download warez software...so finding viruses, malware and spyware is extremely rare...but obviously still necessary with Windows.
